Ocean Infinity locates wreck of sunken 'Stellar Daisy'

8th March 2019

Ocean Infinity, USA, has announced that it has located the wreck of the lost South Korean tanker Stellar Daisy.

The ship was located at a depth of 3461 metres in the South Atlantic Ocean, approximately 1800 nautical miles (3333 kilometres) due west of Cape Town, South Africa.

Stellar Daisy sank in March 2017, transporting iron ore from Brazil to China.

Working from Seabed Constructor, the search operation involved the deployment of four AUVs, which, over 72 search hours, explored approximately 1300 square-kilometres of seabed.

Representatives of both the South Korean government and the families of Stellar Daisy’s crew were present throughout the operation.
